Jerry Porter

Westview Hospital CEO

Jerry Porter was unanimously elected by the board of directors to be Westview’s CEO in October 2004, bringing 31 years of hospital administrative experience as well as clinical expertise.

Porter joined Westview Hospital in 1992 as chief operating officer. He has been a champion for quality initiatives, facility programs and improvements, strategic planning and patient satisfaction. He has substantially contributed to patient satisfaction improvements and the financial turnaround of the hospital. His priorities are on quality care and service to patients and to the community. Porter is also committed to the osteopathic philosophy, which promotes wellness and treats the whole person, not just the symptoms.

Prior to joining Westview, Porter had a 14-year tenure at a large Indianapolis hospital. He held a variety of positions including vice president of operations, vice president of facilities and patient care and support services, chief nuclear medicine technologist, administrative director of radiology services, assistant vice president of professional services, and assistant vice president of facilities and patient care and support services. His responsibilities included the development, departmental relocations and multi-million dollar budget for the main campus. He had administrative experience in each ancillary and support department, including the development of a freestanding 80-bed rehabilitation hospital.

His education includes an associate of science degree in Radiologic Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine, and a Master of Science degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as nuclear medicine technologist and clinical instructor at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver. After completing his three-year commitment, Porter returned to Indiana University School of Medicine, where he received an academic appointment of associate professor and served as a chief technologist and technical director of the Nuclear Medicine Training Program.

Porter’s involvement in the community has included serving as president of the Franklin Township Community School Board, board member of the RISE Learning Center and the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization. He has served on the Governor’s Commission on Low Level Nuclear Waste Management and more recently, the Mayor’s Task Force on Bioterrorism. He is currently a Ruling Elder of the Reformed Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Sharon, have two daughters.
