Traditional Rotating Internships

At Westview Hospital, our intern program offers you advantages you won't find at a large institution. The opportunity to work one-on-one with our medical staff, access to a variety of challenging and complex medical cases and state-of-the-art medical services and specialties to help you build a solid foundation for your future as a Doctor of Osteopathy.

Opened in 1975, Westview is a 120-bed acute care, osteopathic hospital located on the west side of Indianapolis – the 12th largest city in the United States. In a wooded setting, Westview is easily accessed by Interstate 65, and just minutes from the heart of the city.

We are the center of osteopathic medicine and education for central Indiana. Our facilities include a fully-equipped, 24-hour emergency room, an intensive care unit and inpatient and outpatient surgery, radiology, laboratory, cardiopulmonary services, cancer care, podiatry and rehabilitative services, senior care unit, and the Healthplex Sports Club and Medical Pavilion.

Westview is committed to the principles of osteopathic medicine: proactive care and prevention. These are the fundamentals on which we base our delivery of personal, primary health care. We continue to work with our physicians to expand primary care access and ensure quality care.

As an intern at Westview, you are a part of the prestigious medical community of Indianapolis. A network that includes eight nationally acclaimed hospitals, medical research facilities, technology and manufacturing corporations, and one of the nation’s largest pharmaceutical firms, Eli Lilly and Company.

Westview is just ten minutes from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, (IUPUI), a 27,500-student campus which includes the renowned Indiana University Medical Center and the I.U. School of Nursing, the largest nursing school in the United States. Purdue University, a world leader in biomedical technology, is just an hour’s drive.

We place a high priority on personal attention to our interns, as well as our patients. We’ll provide you with an excellent interdisciplinary education that includes advanced diagnostic and treatment methods.

One of the unique features of our participatory management is a mentoring program to support interns. The program is directed by the Postgraduate Training Committee and provides interns with not only a quality education, but also with a well-rounded medical perspective. Another unique benefit is the scheduled "block nights", which allows you to plan and take advantage of designated private time.

As a Westview intern, you receive: stipends, moving expenses, meals, malpractice insurance, health insurance, lab coats, in-service lectures, seminars and an ACLS course.
