Balance Center
Specializing in treatment for poor mobility, imbalance and dizziness
Every year, more than one-third of all people over 65 will fall. Half of these people will fall repeatedly.
Although most escape serious injury, a growing fear of falling can cause them to limit their activities. Either that, or they will simply be told to start using a cane or walker, or to reduce their physical activity and “be more careful.” Alone, all of the above can lead to a decline in strength, mobility and endurance, which may set the stage for further difficulties and falls.
Westview Hospital's Balance Center:
Westview Hospital's Balance Center was created specifically to identify and treat the conditions that make people dizzy and/or put them at risk for falls. Patients are seen by physical therapists who are specially trained in the application of vestibular and balance rehabilitation to help individuals learn how to manage the effects of dizziness, improve their balance, and return to an independent lifestyle.
