Surgical Services
Westview Hospital offers a wide range of surgical services and outpatient procedures. Our nursing staff cares for patients
undergoing a wide range of general surgery, as well as podiatric and ophthalmologic procedures,
with personalized care that focuses on patient and family comfort.
Pre-Admission:
Before you come in for your appointment, you will receive a letter that confirms the date and time of your surgery and reminds you of some pre-surgical instructions.
Registration:
When you come to Westview for Same Day Surgery, you can park free of charge in a specially designated area and come into the hospital in a convenient entrance. Much of the admission paperwork can be done before you arrive. A unique service in Westview's Same Day Surgery Unit is that each patient is assigned to a private room for the day.
While you are undergoing your procedure, your family can wait for you in your room, which is furnished with comfortable chairs and equipped with a bathroom, telephone and television. One family member will also receive a complimentary meal pass.
After Surgery:
- You'll spend a brief period in the recovery room prior to returning to your private room.
- After your doctor's post-surgery visit, and when you feel ready to be transported home, you may leave the hospital.
- You will need a family member or friend to accompany you and drive you home, because you will not be able to drive yourself.
- Before you leave, you'll receive verbal and written instructions on caring for yourself during recovery.
- Once you're home, a Westview staff member will call you within 24 hours to check on your progress and answer any questions you have.
